Life

I was getting into my car when I heard Blue Jays screeching and squirrels doing their danger call so looked up and could see the Red-Tail Hawk in the shadows up in a tree. The Blue Jays then decided to attack the hawk which flew off with something in its claws. When I got home and photo shopped the shot I could see that the hawk had a poor little squirrel. That's life I guess but sad.

Hello,
Beautiful Hawk, great photo. I can see why the Blue Jays were screaming danger, danger. Thank you for linking up and sharing your critter post. Take care, have a great weekend.

That's life - and death - I'm afraid.

That's life, it happens everyday.

Great catch with your camera. Yesterday I watched a Red-Tail Hawk watch a number of squirrels until a group of Bluejays chased it off. The Hawk must have not been hungry.

The harsh reality of nature

Sometimes, we see things that don't want to see. What you saw in the picture, after taking the shot, reminds of what the photographer saw in his pictures of Mr. Thorn and the priest in the movie, "The Omen". Here is a link to the same: https://omen.fandom.com/wiki/Keith_Jennings_(1976)

PS. I don't like scary movies, but I saw this one when I was young and naive :)

I guess it's the natural balance of nature. Our UK squirrels are predators too.

Aw. Sad. One´s death, another´s full stomach. Hope the wee one died quickly at least...

Hello :=)
What a great sighting and image. I'm sorry about the squirrel but a Hawk has to capture it's prey whenever it can I suppose.

I see this kind of thing often when walking at the garden. I have to keep telling myself "circle of life" so that I don't feel too sad about it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

A great capture! Everyone has to eat!

What a beautiful Hawk. Our squirrels are quite pesky but it's still hard to see some of the captures. Enjoy your day!
