Sunbathing

This was  taken a few weeks ago when I was still trying to get the final tomatoes to ripen. It was a cool but sunny day when I spotted this fly and ran to get my camera. I could have taken as much time as I wanted as it continued to sit there for at least another 10 minutes. Such a lovely green.

I bet the the surface of that tomato was nice and warm so sun on its back and warmth on its tummy.

That Common Blow Fly was seeking warmth on that tomato. Fine bright colors in your photo. I'm sure you washed the tomato before you ate it.

I would have used the same title. I wonder if it went to sleep.

Interesting fly, I'm sure the tomato was delicious.

Maybe felt it was safest clinging to someone's beloved mater. :-)

That green on the fly is so vivid. It’s amazing how even the smallest creatures can hold our attention when the light is just right. Makes me appreciate the patience needed to notice these tiny wonders.
