A tough Winter for them. Spotted one today when I was using my trekkrunner. It was eating bird food that my neighbour puts out for all the wildlife here. -21C expected tonight. With the wind chill factor added.

That's a very cute looking squirrel.
It is hard for me to image how the squirrels and birds endure the bitter cold of winter, but somehow they do. I've seen my backyard squirrels out foraging this past week, but few birds even though it has warmed up last week.
It must have been hungry.
