I showed you the front entrance of this beautifully restored building in December (here) and luckily the building was part of the Doors Open Toronto event of a couple of weekends ago. This is the approach to the rear entrance of the building showing the tower which originally had a dome housing a telescope for the Meteorological Service of Canada but the dome was removed in 1934 and installed at another location on the U of Toronto campus. I'll show you some of the restored and modernized interior over the next few days.

P.S. I have fixed the link to the original shot.

It has a definite lighthouse feel to it Pat, which makes it even more appealing to me :)
I just love the concept of Open Doors, we are seeing such great spaces through your eyes.
I love towers in old buidings. It's beuatifully restored!
well, that explains the castle-like feature. :)
Great looking brickwork, is it possible to stand where the dome once stood? Would make a great vantage point if you could!
Beautiful with the round structure.
What a wonderful building...love all that stone. But the tower is absolutely magnificent. I'll be looking forward to seeing some interior shots.
Such a beautiful building; nice restoration!

I love that we went to different places so I can still get to see some of the ones I miss each year. Now I just have to get around to posting something about my stops!
It reminds me of a lighthouse, too. I love the brickwork.
A solid tower with great presence as part of the building! Love that elongated glass feature on the tower!
