Theme Day - Ageing

The March theme for the City Daily Photo blog community is ageing and rather than a self portrait, I present this old delivery truck which was spotted in the Distillery District and may have been used to deliver some of the local liquor. It is probably from the 1940s and the years look to have been hard on the old thing!

Life is hard even for trucks. Alcohol will age you fast they say. Case in point?

That front tire is looking a bit flat. :)

Oh the poor thing needs a new tyre! I'd drive it!

Excellent choice for the theme. It does look like it's worked very hard over the years.

It may be of great age, but to me it's something beautiful, still! A lovely capture of it too, the colors are stunning in the whole photo!

Oh pool old thing hasn't aged well at all :) Metal doesn't really withstand the test of time like wood and bricks! You're going to have to do a self portrait next month Pat, isn't that the theme for April?

Now that is a great find! You picked the perfect time of day to take this photo. The light is fantastic.

It has a lot of character!

Late thirties. Cool truck which I imagine wouldn't take too much to get rolling once again.

Love the look of this truck, all that beautiful rust set against the red bricks on this building.

imagine the memories drivers of that truck must have .. the liquor angle is a nice tough .. also I notice that the color of the truck match the color of your shoes in your profile (smile)

Safe to say it's now in retirement!

Excellent find -- perfect for theme day. I would love to stumble across an old rusty truck like this when I have my camera.

I love the look of old cars and trucks. They make great photos. This one is especially nice. It is aging for sure.

I am surprised no one has repaired this vehicle and entered it into shows or exhibitions.
It could become a hobby for a mechanic or engineer.

The years have not been kind!

Beautiful light. The flat tire is a very nice touch.

I agree with William: the years have not been kind.

I love all the colors in this shot. Well done !

This old truck needs some TLC. "rather than a self portrait" made me laugh.
PS: Sunday's photo on my blog is not Halifax. Checkout 201 Church Street, Toronto on Google maps street view.

Out to pasture. (I love the colors.)

We all need a little TLC when we age, but maybe this one is beyond that?!

Pat, your got me with this photo. I've always loved the shape and character of old trucks. Your photo beautifully captures the shape and style of these old beauties. But I could not figure out what kind of truck this was until I did a search. It is a 1946 Fargo, a kind of truck built by Dodge, but only sold in Canada. It is far better looking than the Dodge sold in the U.S. at the same time.

Here is what a restored 1947 Fargo looks like.

I'm not exactly sure of the year. It might be a 1947, but it's close. Trucks didn't change as much as cars over the years. I would send you a picture I found if I had a way to do that.

Perfect choice. I always have to check this one out when I am in the area.
