Horse Chestnuts

The Horse Chestnut trees have been putting on a wonderful display this spring. This pic was taken last week just as some of the flower petals were starting to fall to the ground. They are such beautiful trees!

I agree., although I'm not sure about the wisdom of planting evergreens underneath. Hmm.

Beautiful! I love to walk under trees just as the petals are beginning to fall and drift to the ground.

Indeed they are and I don't know if I ever saw one in person.

How beautiful. They are almost like Christmas trees with ornaments all over them.

Fine photo of great looking trees. Don't know why we don't grow them around here.

Ah marvellous! I missed them this year here, I was in the USA!

We need some of those down here to keep the sun at bay! I'm guessing that is a church in the background, right?

I found one growing in a ceramic planter in my garden. Decided that wasn't a good idea.... Pulled it up and the conker was at its root. I guess a squirrel hid his stash there...

Horse chestnuts . . . that is a name I have not heard in a long time. I remember some in my old home town in Massachusetts but can't think of one in Connecticut.

Now that you mention it, they have been rather spectacular this year.

I agree on the beauty of these great big trees. I collect the chestnuts every Autumn to put in the house to keep the spiders away.

We had a horse chestnut in the yard when I was a child. I rarely see them now-a-days.

Nice shot of all the blossoms Pat. After our extremely cold winter the plant kingdom is doing much better than thought it would.

They are precious. These chestnuts are not eaten here used against moths.
Put them in closets;))

We have them here too and they are lovely. This year seemed to be especially good.

Yes, they ARE beautiful trees. I just wish the squirrels in my neighbourhood didn't plant so many conkers in my gardens. lol
