Spadina Rd

In order to draw attention to the city's indigenous heritage a group has been installing signs that have the street name as well as the name on which it it is based. Spadina is based on the Ojibwe word Ishpadinaa which means "a place on a hill",  suitable for this location at the base of the hill where Casa Loma is located.

Know I wonder what the green footstep means.

Nice sign and I appreciate the commentary. Ojibwa Indians used to camp in the woods on my grandmother's farm in northern Minnesota during the summer.

Interesting origin of this name. Around here many of the place names are Lakota in origin.

such a good way to educate residents of your city and visitors about the origin of the street names.

That makes a lot of sense, having lived up on that hill!

That is a nice project. It should be adopted in many parts of our own country.

I love that they are doing this. Interesting to see how the English word was derived.
