Just A Facade

This condo tower on Bloor St in the Annex neighbourhood was required to keep the facade of an older building that stood on the property and was the studio of architect John Lyle. The facade forms the entrance to yet another coffee shop as you can see from the sign placed subtly in the alcove to the left.

It is a charming facade. It really stands out next to the modern buildings.

...I like the facade, the new leaves me cold.

I like that they kept the façade. That is one coffee shop that can afford to be subtle with their signage. People will find them regardless.

Love how you caught the light illuminating the old facade.

It's impressive looking. Sometimes I wonder if maybe we have way too many coffee shops! :)

A very sharp contrast.

So glad they kept the facade, it gives a touch of elegance, looks like a nice cafe too! Why does the name Bloor St. sound significant to me Pat, is it a main Street?

it does stand out that's for sure

The price of a Starbucks venti ice tea just went up to $3.45 here. What?!

The facade looks great as the entrance. A touch of old never hurts but enhances the building. Very nice!

Of course it is a Starbucks. Sigh.

Nice to see the old alongside, in fact part of.... the new.

Old vs new, I think it looks really nice.

I'm glad they saved the old facade but I think it would have worked better if the first floor of the new building had been matched.

I love the facade of that old building. LOL I didn't even notice the sign but the green umbrellas were a giveaway for me.
