Winter Garb

The Goldfinches have lost their bright yellow feathers and are now wearing a rather olive green coat for the winter season. The change is quite amazing! I took this pic through a window so it isn't the sharpest.

Thought the colors were muted because they were in the shade. They still like thistle seed.

Hello,

Even though they lost their summer colors, they still look pretty. You have a popular feeder there, the Goldies love it. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, thanks for the comment and visit to my blog.

I never knew birds chaanged colors like that!

Lovely group at your feeder! They are not as noticeable in their winter colors. Maybe camouflage is more important in the Winter - makes it harder for hawks and other raptors to see them now that trees are losing their leaves.

I just got my 'winter plumage' out today! Linen shirts in storage and cord trousers out! It's getting chilly.

Looks like it's break time for a snack. I never knew that birds changed colours for the winter, interesting fact. Thanks for sharing it, Pat

Winter. Well . . .

This is something new for me. I've thought our goldfinches migrated away for the winter and I miss them. Now I wonder if ours aren't doing what you've described. Time to get out my bird book.

I know this happens but I don't know enough about birds to identify them when not in their normal garb.
