A Blast From The Past

I spotted these old roller skates in a display case at the Bata Shoe Museum. It is pretty weird to see something from your childhood on display in a glass case! My main memory of these things was the key used to tighten them to your sneakers which you kept needing to use as they loosened and fell off giving you skinned shins! It was still great fun though.

Oh my gosh how they have changed Pat, hopefully youngsters today still have as much fun as we did ☺️

My dad had a pair like this that I never quite got the hang of. After a few of those skinned knees, he bought me a new pair that laced up. However, I have to admit, I never was very good at skating. But, give me my bicycle and I was all over town.

Though I had a pair of roller skates, I never could keep my balance!
I passed them on to my younger brother. After a few falls, he decided he had rather have a pony (which he got). I guess the balance gene just missed us!

I had a pair of roller-skates like that, but did not get a chance to use them much because we lived out in the country without paved streets or sidewalks.

I haven't seen them like that before.

I remember them, too, though I never could master them. But I was a whiz kid on ice skates.

Too many things from my past are starting to show up in museums! These look better built than the skates I remember...that never stayed tight enough.

When I was a kid, I had skates like that ... my toes were always blue in the summer. :)

Hello,

I remember having a pair of these roller skates. They were fun, the indoor skates were fun too. Happy weekend!
