More Changes

It looks as if another condo tower is on its way to the Yorkville neighbourhood. The lovely old buildings in the forefront are due to be torn down soon and construction will soon begin. Yorkville was the centre of the hippie lifestyle in Toronto in the 1960s but it would be hard to tell that now with all of the gentrification that has taken place.

Hello,

There is a big difference between the old and new buildings. The old building has charm, sorry it will be torn down. Have a happy day!

Some people call this progress.

It's getting too much!

...I just read that condos now cost more than detached houses in Toronto.

That's a shame.

I have an extremely low opinion of developers.

That old building has some character and it's a pity that they're tearing it down.

I visited Yorkville one night back in the 60's. Sad to see all of the gentrification.

Yorkville has changed so much! I used to walk by on my way to school!

My aunt had a flower shop on Yorkville Ave. in the fifties!

Gentrification = More dollars per square foot for developers. And more people scrambling to find increasingly rare affordable housing.

I hope they keep a bit of it? In Perth they do lovely architecture-mix-buildings.
(Plus.... I´d sneak in there anyways before it´s gone!)

Dos arquitecturas compitiendo. El viejo debería seguir ahí
Un abrazo.

In the 1960's I used to hang out in the Yorkville coffee houses.

I guess that's progress for you Pat.. the new building isn't too bad though, I like the bit of side detail there ✨
