A Lazy Tree

I spotted this tree at James Gardens and was intrigued by the way it splits from a centre core and then each side branch lays down on the ground to grow outwards.  There are grasses in the same plot which haven't sprouted yet which makes the tree's shape more visible than it is in summer.

A most unusual and interesting tree. Could this be in a Japanese garden?

It's funny how some trees grow this way. "Lazy Tree" is a good name for it.

Serpentine. Like if you blinked and looked again it could disappear. :-)

That is a remarkable tree, it must be old.

I think this tree is fantastic place for children climbing.

Indeed ideal for playing children.

Do you know if the tree grows naturally that way or was it "encouraged" by arborists?
