Grand Hinges

I love the hinges on this door found at University College at U of Toronto. This is a side door into the college but still has been wonderfully decorated with columns and carving. You can see all the dirt of the ages on the walls of this old building.

Those hinges are fantastic!

A pretty good modern imitation of a Norman doorway with the kind of hinges I often find on old churches. You can still buy hinges like that from specialist dealers.

What a grand old doorway. Many crafts involved here, woodwork, stonework, and metal work. It makes for a stately entrance to this university building.

I like that a lot. Also. One expects a hobbit to open the door and greet you!

I'm reminded of a lot of architecture here.

If you see such a door you know there are miracles behind.
