More On The Gem

In December there was the horrible news on the radio that there had been a fire at The Gem. The building didn't look bad and everyone hoped that it would soon reopen but in March the longtime owner announced that it was closed for good. The end of an era. This is how the front looks today although if you peek through some of the window coverings much work is being done inside so maybe something else will become a landmark in the area.

So sad to lose your local where the community gathered to socialize. If there is work going on there someone else might open The Gem.

Fire is a horrible thing. I speak from experience.

That is such a shame. Hopefully something new and fun will open up in this spot.

A bit sad. Big fire in my area a while vack Suspected arson attack. Already repaired, looks brand new from the outside at least.

It is sad to lose iconic venues and we've certainly lost so many over the years.

What a terrible thing fire is!How unpleasant to close a successful business! I hope some other good company will replace it.

How sad. Like "Da Nico" in my home town. They retired and went back to Italy. I miss that pizza. No one wanted to take over.
