Theatre In A Church Building

This is the Randolph Theatre which is in an old church building on Bathurst St. The Gothic Revival church was built in 1888 but by the mid 1960s the congregation had shrunk and the church became a theatre.

Quite distinctive.

This is the fait of many downtown churches. On the positive side, the building has found a new life, and will continue to be part of the community.

It was always a theatre of sorts — in broadest terms.

Theater has always had sacred Roots in ceremony. I think it's entirely appropriate and wonderful that that great building was saved. Thanks Pat for sharing it Aloha

I expect we'll have a surplus of old churches in the future.
