50s TVs

This is another shot from the CBC Museum showing their showcase of 50s TV sets accompanied by 50s era home accessories and everyday things. I love the space-agey look of the old sets.

it is strange to think that back in the 50's they put more design efforts into their tv designs than now - with the boring black rectangles of today. this seems to be the case for most automobile designs as well. it would seem that the 50's were an especially vibrant time for design. thanks for the great pics.

These are rather appealing compared to the sameness of today's TVs.

When I was young, my father made his living repairing TV's and selling them. This shot is very familiar to me. I used to go with him on calls sometimes and I met all kinds of interesting people doing that. Now if a TV breaks, you just throw it away.
