Coca-Cola Building

This is the office building of the Toronto headquarters of Coca-Cola where we find the sculpture and sign from the last few days. Designed by architects Mathers & Halenby (who designed the Eaton Centre mall) and opened in 1965, it is a wonderful example of classic modernist design used for a suburban corporate headquarters. Top of the line materials were used in its construction and Coca-Cola has maintained it in immaculate original condition but they are moving their headquarters to a new space downtown with in the next year so there is much concern that the building may be lost as has happened to many other fine buildings from the post-war era.

Looks like a condo. Is it in an industrial area?

Unfortunately it's all about money, if a powerful company decides to build something in this place, no one can stop it.

Very 60's! I like it.

It looks so familiar...I guess because it is a 60s building! Hope it stays intact!

I like the Eaton center a bit better than this building. It's more timeless to me, while the Coca Cola building looks a bit dated.

It all gets down to how powerful your preservation board is, or if you even have one. I know you will keep us up to date on the outcome.

This does look like condos. Funny how space back then is different than space and design now. Technology sometimes requires different space and option that require newer structures.

Much architecture from the 1960s has been torn down. It does look dated, and it was not the strongest period for architecture. I wonder if, 40 years from now, we will reassess it and wish that more of it had been retained.

It will be interesting to see what Coca Cola's new building looks like Red, much more modern and up to the minute I bet. As for this one, seeing as they've kept it in such good shape surely they can find a use for it you'd think!

Looks like some sort of dormatory setting.
