Ducks On Ice

The pond at James Gardens only rarely freezes totally over as there is always water running down a hill into it. The ducks take advantage of the bit of open water and gather around it. They don't seem to mind the ice.

I envy their ability to adjust to the cold. I wish I was better at that.

We both are featuring ducks today. This is a happy flock of Mallards enjoying a bit of open water. There must be food for them nearby.

Their feet lack muscles but skin on bones. How can they stay on the snow?

Ducks really seem unbothered by the cold water or weather.

I really like this busy photo, with each one doing their own thing. It should be a puzzle it's that cool!

That looks super cold. Glad the ducks have some unfrozen water to bathe in.
