Famous Glasses

A new optical shop has just opened on College St and they have had this cool mural of John Lennon, wearing his famous glasses, painted in their entrance. The artist for this is Douglas VanAsselstine who seems to be involved in a lot of the art scene going on in nearby Kensington Market.

That's cool! I bet this mural will attract a lot of babyboomers to the optical shop!

Very nicely done and clever of the store to use this image to advertise its business.

Hee! My first thought was Harry Potter! Perhaps I shouldn't admit that? :)

When I think of famous glasses I think of Dame Edna Everage!

Those glasses came back into fashion in the last decade but I see them less often now. I like the cool blue colors the artist used.

Very effective portrait of John Lennon. While I can easily imagine stopping to study it, I don't think it would prompt me to walk in the door. But it definitely adds to the cityscapte. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

I was thinking Harry Potter when I first saw this. It never occurred to me that Potter and Lennon looked so much alike!
