Mt Dennis Library

This is the Mt Dennis library which can be found just down the street from yesterday's mural. It has just re-opened after an extensive renovation of the 60 year-old dark brick building that was here before. Designed by architect Bruce Stratton, the building has had windows and skylight punched into it, a totally redesigned interior, and apparently even has an outdoor reading garden. I love the new facade of  glass and corten steel - quite an elegant addition to the area!

As a huge fan of Corten, I think I like this, it will be fun to watch it age.

It looks like a super modern new library Pat, like the idea of a reading garden too. Will be interesting to see what other improvements they make to this area.

This has a modern, sleek elegance to it.
When I lived in Barrie the new library had a rooftop garden which I used a lot - a great idea that should be introduced more.

Looks good and the outdoor reading garden sounds great.

This is terrific. I have read that it is a trend to let a lot more light into libraries through glass curtain walls like this.

Your use of the word 'elegant' is quite accurate ! Astonishing to think that steel-and-glass could be quite so graceful
