Just Crawling Along

I do have one very small patch of earth where I had a few milkweed plants growing among some ground cover. The milkweed got blown over during a storm a couple of weeks ago but then this week I spotted a Monarch Butterfly caterpillar crawling around in the fallen stems. I'm hoping it has enough to eat and will soon be hiding out to prepare for metamorphosis. It was around for a few days and now has disappeared.

Taking part in Saturday's Critters. Click HERE to see more creatures from around the world.

It is great to see the Monarch caterpillar. I never find them here.
I saw my fist of the season Monarch yesterday at my deck flowers.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend.

How wonderful to find the Monarch caterpillar. Your milkweed plant may nurture another generation of Monarchs even if it got blown over.

A few years ago, I was able to witness Monarchs emerging and flying off. It was a special time. I will see if I can find the post and will link it if I do.

I had several posts. This is the first.

How exciting! I haven't seen any this year, but we aren't on a major flight path.

oh that is wonderful and what a great picture of the caterpillar. i planted 2 milkweed plants this year and have not gotten one caterpillar. i have not even seen 1 monarch butterfly. i am sure the caterpillar is around, it probably formed its chrysalis and will be a beautiful butterfly in about 2 weeks. i hope a bird did not find it and eat it!!
