Spring Arrivals

We have had awful weather lately but last week one afternoon there was a bit of sunshine and I looked out through the window to see this pair of House Finches in the trees by the roof deck. They were there for about 45 minutes just grooming and resting. I have seen them a few times since and hope that they may stay around for a while. They are always together.

Taking part in Saturday's Critters. Click HERE to see more creatures from around the world.

I’ve been able to crack open my window a bit lately. It’s a treat to hear the birds singing goodnight to each other in the evening.

We went from 99 degrees a little over a week ago to back down in the 50's and 60's this week. It's been a little crazy. Hopefully we will have some nice spring weather this coming week. Seeing those birds hanging around has to be a good sign.

our weather has been all over the place. it's raining today but even when it is not raining, and the temperatures have been warm, we have not been seeing much of the sun. this is a beautiful photograph, i did not see the female at first. have a great weekend!!

Looks like the bird is enjoying him/herself. We have just finished daylight savings here so it's getting cooler.

Yes, the House Finches have been at my bird feeder. They must be hungry after their migration north.

Both of my thoughts were answered in the comments, the male is the brighter colour and spend winter down south, somewhere.

Hello :)
I hope the male and female stick around and make a nest in that tree. They are lovely birds, and it must be a good sign that they are always together.
Have a happy Sunday

Hi! Great birds! We have a migratory bird called the common rosefinch (Carpodacus erythrinus). How do they differ from each other? It's a really difficult bird to see. We can hear the sound, but we never really see the bird itself.
