Peace Fountain
This fountain is found in "Amsterdam Square" a park at the corner of Avenue Road & St Clair Ave. The park and the fountain were donated to the city in 1929 by a local resident, H.H. Williams, and the fountain is inscribed as follows - "Replica of the fountain at the Peace Palace, The Hague, presented by H.H. williams as a mark of his love for peace". The fountain was restored a few years ago so it is nice to see it running again!

Oh, I like this a lot! So glad it was restored. Love that stonework. And what a great symbolic replica for your city!

I know the general area, but I can't recall ever seeing the park, but it's been awhile. It's beautiful!
And it does look very peaceful too!
Yes, fountains are such great additions to a community. Hard to keep up, though.
Cool! I thought before I read, that looks like something you'd see in Europe.
It's beautiful! I looks like Versailles!
Lovely, I was looking at a restored 'peace clock' a couple of days ago
It is certainly a sturdy fountain, and so good that it has been restored . Would be a shame if it hadn't been. The stonework is impressive.
This is wonderful!
Very nice. Not something that immediately makes you think of Toronto.
Beautiful fountain.
Fine classic fountain with a 1930s Deco look.
A fountain I such a good monument to commemorate peace.
I'm always glad to see how Canadians preserve their city, and it's great to have something that represents love and peace around. ;-)
It's very unassuming. I like it!
I'm glad it was restored. It deserves to be!
This is a lovely, calm fountain. Congrats to the donor and his beliefs about peace.
A cool little monument.

The stonework is so beautiful Pat, what a lovely gift to the city.
This park, Amsterdam Square has been my meeting place during Covid-19. I meet my friends there for coffee. Also is the meeting place for the Summer Chat Walk Group before we go for a walk every week.
Amsterdam Square, Toronto, 1-min walk from St Clair Ave West at Avenue Rd West Side
Beautiful and peaceful place. The lovely fountain is Amsterdam Square's main attraction.
